These words from the 15th song of the Divine Comedy were taken by the writer from the work of the famous Greek historian Tacitus, who was a supporter of monotheism and at the same time one of the few who clearly distinguished between the vision of God (illusion) and the so-called revelation.
For example, when Carl Schmitt wrote a book about Dante, he gave only one quote, which refers to the transformation of a star into a baby at the behest of God. For the difference between the adherence to any theory - the recognition or denial that a person has been overshadowed by the Spirit of God - and the experience of divine illumination is so obvious that it is not necessary. But there is no doubt that the commonly accepted doctrine of the cross is a banal assumption that is part of the mediaeval media beliefs about Jesus today. At the same time, of course, we cannot know who the one we consider to be Christ really was. The virgin birth of Jesus, that is, his birth in a virgin state, is reason enough for the Catholic Church to always emphasize this theme. The Church, for its part, grants them forgiveness because it believes in their atoning sacrifice and believes that they not only do not reject the idea of forgiveness, but share this vision in very strong terms. So, if we read the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, we will be convinced that he is no less tolerant and no less humble than the evangelists, who carried the faith of his followers with unheard of cruelty in difficult conditions. As for the rest, however, he completely disagreed with the conclusions of either the Catholic or Orthodox Church about the person of Jesus Christ.
